Have you ever noticed what cheerful things brooks
are? They're always laughing. Even in winter-time
I've heard them under the ice. I'm so glad there's
a brook near Green Gables.

お気づきになるかしら、小川がどれほど愉快なものなの
か。いつも笑っているのよ。冬でもね、氷の下から笑い
声が聞こえてくる。グリーンゲーブルの近くに小川があっ
てよかった。
