今晩、下の息子（中２）が横を通り過ぎた時のことだ。なにやら懐かしい曲を口ずさんでいた。
わずかのフレーズだが、高校生のころから大好きなナンバーだけにすぐにわかった。

「なんでStand by Me知ってるねん？」と息子に尋ねてみると。
「今日英語の授業で聴かされてん」とのことだ。
しかも歌詞も配られたらしい。
今まで大好きな曲なわりにじっくり歌詞を読んだこともなかったので、息子のプリントを奪い取り、歌詞をじっくり読んでみた。

息子の授業の話しでJohn Lennonのこと、思い出してしまった。
彼が亡くなったのは、４０歳。
自分はすでにその年齢を越えてしまった。
息子は、父親にも影響を与えるステキな授業受けることができたみたいだ。
