The band BASIC is an art-rock and experimental trio founded by Philadelphia guitarist Chris Forsyth, baritone guitarist Nick Millevoi, and percussionist Mikel Patrick Avery (with bassist Douglas McCombs later joining for subsequent releases). The band name and their 2024 debut record, This Is BASIC, are direct tributes to the obscure 1984 ambient/experimental guitar album Basic by Robert Quine and Fred Maher.
