BB (aka Madeline Babuka-Black) played drums in the bands Yucky Duster and Le Pain before deciding she wanted to make her own music. Initially she decided to write kids music and her first EP, 2019's Here's Some Slippers, featured short punky pop songs about spiders. monkeys, and pants. She pivoted away from kids music and switched to playing music heavily inspired by Elephant 6 and groups like Apples in Stereo and Dressy Bessy. Her new sound caught the ear of Lame O Records and they released the first Slippers album So You Like Slippers? in late 2024. BB played drums, guitar, and keys along with singing and got help on various instruments from Mo Troper. While making the record she also was enrolled in California Institute of the Arts pursuing a graduate degree in animation. After releasing the "Guess I Started a Band" single in April of 2026, Slippers debut album for K Records soon followed. BB was again joined by Troper on several tracks as well as Joo Joo Ashworth on guitar, and Diners' Blue Broderick on various stringed instruments. Ashworth and Troper also helped with production, while Fred Thomas took on mixing and mastering duties. BB's infectious, cheerful songs are the centerpiece, though, as is her perfect pop singing voice and powerful drumming. Slippers 08 was released in June of 2026.
