私たちはもはや持っているもので生きているのではなく、約束で生きている。もはや今日の光の中で生きているのではなく、未来の暗闇の中で生きている。未来は、最終的に正しい日の出をもたらすと期待している。私たちは、より良いものはすべて、より悪いものの代償で購入されていることを認めようとしない。たとえば、より大きな自由への希望は、国家への奴隷化の増加によって打ち消され、科学の最も輝かしい発見が私たちをさらす恐ろしい危険は言うまでもない。私たちの父祖が何を求めていたかを理解していなければ、私たち自身も理解していない。そして、私たちは全力を尽くして、個人からそのルーツと指導的本能を奪い、ニーチェが重力の精神と呼んだものだけに支配される大衆の中の粒子になるのである。
