The Incredibly Romantic Love Story Of Paul and Linda

The Beatles lived through some hectic years as a band, and after years without peace and quiet, years of stress, controversy, and fatigue, touring the world, in 1966, the band decided to quit touring altogether. They decided instead to focus only on creating music and having some time for themselves. By the next year, John, George, and Ringo were involved in extremely toxic relationships. Paul, however, remained the only eligible bachelor. That is until he met the woman who would become the love of his life, Linda Eastman.

Eastman was an American photographer who was making it through her photos of rock bands. Not only was she talented, but she was also one of the first female photographers to capture some of the most important and iconic musicians at the time, including The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix, and Bob Dylan. Paul and Linda met at a club in 1967 and, as Paul always claimed, he was immediately drawn to her. Linda, who was already a Beatles fan, had a little crush on Lennon, but she lost interest in him when she felt a connection with the “cute” Beatle. They started dating almost right away and, just two years later, they tied the knot in London.

As both claimed throughout the years, what brought them together was their love of nature, music, and their will to have fun and enjoy life to the fullest. Linda had been married before to Melville See Jr., a geologist she had met in college, and even had a daughter with him, Heather. Their marriage lasted only three years, and though Linda was reluctant to get married again, it was Paul’s genuine love for her daughter that convinced her he was the one.

When The Beatles split in 1970 (after Paul sued the band), the couple decided to embark on a new project together. Paul taught Linda how to play the keyboard and, together, they released RAM, Paul’s first solo album. Soon, they founded the now-famous rock band Wings, with which they toured and recorded several albums that garnered a lot of praise. They were the perfect team in every way, in business and their relationship.

Paul had finally found his muse, while Linda had found a partner who pushed her to go beyond the limits of her imagination. Their 29-year relationship was Paul’s most creative period in musical terms, but also, as he always says, the happiest time of his life. Sadly, Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1995 and passed away three years later due to complications, leaving in Paul and their kids a big void to fill.

Paul remarried four years later with Heather Mills, but this relationship ended after only six years and made tabloid headlines due to the significant amount of money Mills took with her. Then, in 2011, Paul met his current wife, Nancy Shevell, with whom he’s been ever since (she has also inspired him to write some amazing love songs). Still, though he’s clearly happy again, there’s no doubt Linda still holds an important place in his heart, not only as the mother of his children, but also as the woman who showed him what true love really is.
