A Day of Soccer Boy

中学校の部活でサッカーをしている子から、他校チームとの練習試合の話を聞いたので

日記風に書いてみました。

It was soccer club day, today.

We had a game with R Junior High soccer club.

R JH is one of the private schools in the neighboring city, where children from well-off family, are studying at. It would be easy-peasy, I thought.

But, Gosh!

Lost in 5 to 1!

Let me just analyze the cause of defeat.

First, we fought in AWAY condition.

The pitch of R JH is artificial turf which we had no experience before.

All of us felt like the turf refused us to running around. Our feet didnt fit to the ground and were tripped up.

Secondly, unexpectedly, Rs team member was all good at play soccer.

It is, however, an all-too-familiar story on private schools.

Boys of public schools, who are passionate about and are motivated to be good soccer players, join Club Teams under professional teams of JFA. They are not allowed to join a school club. So public school doesnt have skillful players. On the other hand, students of private schools are not allowed to join the CT to concentrate on studying. Therefore, good players stay in the club activity.

As for me, I was not in the starting lineup today and came on as a substitute in the middle of the game. I chased the ball aggressively with persistence. Then, the defender of the opponent run against me and had me down to the pitch. Usually, the defender should show his sorry to the other but he just ignored it. It was his worst mistake at the game because his action stirred up my combative spirit.

Then, I worked much harder than ever and finally made a goal!

It was a precious goal for our team.

So, even though the result was a loss, it was a good experience for me and the team. They pushed us around a lot but in the end, we let them know that we didn’t give up the game.
