Ritual to invite spirit of forefathers.

Hideo Haga is the professional photographer who is fascinated by folk customs of old Japan. I saw his works at the exhibition in FUJIFILM SQUARE. He set his theme on traditions which had been maintained in local people’s life. It seems so old but actually the photos were taken during last five decades. It was the age we believed gods in the nature and lived with spirits of forefathers. For young generations, such concept and customs are not scientific and irrational. They held, however, virtual power and had meaning onto their lives.
