Charlotte Kate Fox, American actress who was once the heroine of NHK’s morning drama “Massan” was divorced at early in this year, said several news sources.
Before the audition of Massan in 2014, she had been a stage actress for years but not recognized in public not only in Japan but also in USA.
“It was a sort of gambling but I bet on her” said the director of the morning drama.
And he was right. Charlotte met his expectations and she was soon widely accepted by Japanese viewers. I am the one of them.
In the beginning of Massan, I was not so interested in this American actress. I thought maybe NHK wants to do something new with this “looks beautiful lady”.
Gradually, however, I found that she was different from foreign talents in the past. Her expression and acting skills shows that she is professional. Acting is the way she lives in. But because of long separation period between from husband, her marriage life was end with divorce. There must have been struggle in her heart whether she stays at home with husband or continues to be an actress in Japan. And she decided to take latter option. I hope she can be happy in the end by pursuing her profession.
