I found an interesting article on FB friends in UK news paper, The Independent.

The title of the article says "Facebook friends are almost entirely fake".

It is a conclusion from research of Robin Dunbar, a professor of evolutionary psychology at Oxford University.

According to his research, the average person had around 150 FB friends.

But only about 14 of them would express sympathy to friend's difficulty and 4 out of 14 actually try to help.

Huge number of supposed friends on FB friends list doesn't mean that he or she has a lot of close ones who can be on his/her side.

In order to maintain or develop friendship, we need face- to-face interaction occasionally after all.
