反戦歌。
2022年2月24日からのロシアによるウクライナ侵攻・戦争はすでに6週間を超える。その間、多くの反戦歌を改めてここ一か月ほど聞いているが、この曲がこんな意味をもっていたのかという再発見も多い。
そんな1曲がカーティス・メイフィールドのソロ作「バック・トゥ・ザ・ワールド」だ。

神様はこの戦争の意味を知っているのか怪しいものだ
6年もの長きにわたって

これも、長く泥沼状態が続いたヴェトナム戦争を憂いた作品だ。
いまのロシア・ウクライナ戦争を見ていると、ロシアがかつてのアメリカで、ウクライナがヴェトナムのような気がしてしまう。もちろん、実際の状況などはまったく違うのだが。
本当に戦争は始めてしまったら、勝者はいないということを痛感する。だから戦争は「始めたら負け」なのだ。
多くのシンガーやソングライターたちが反戦や戦争の悲惨さをあらゆる角度から歌う。その叫びは多くの傷ついた人たちを救うこともあれば、さらに悲しみのどん底に落とすこともある。癒すこともあれば、怒りに震えることもあるだろう。
政治家はもっと芸術家のいうことを聞くべきだと改めて感じる。
