Best US city skylines and the downtown region
IMO, Seattle has one of the best skylines I've ever seen. For a city of only 3 million people its skyline looks like a city of 6 million people. Their skyline beats Houston by a mile. I would vote Seattle to be one of the top skylines in the United States. I can't BELIEVE that Seattle is not on this list, wake up people! You can't in common sense say Seattle does not have one of the most impressive skylines in the United States. Seattle has a massive skyline in addition to a massive downtown. memphis is a very pretty and great city, don't get me wrong, but it's downtown just should not be on this list. At one point I would've demanded New Orleans be on this list. Also, where are Cincinnati, Columbus, Denver, and Kansas City? Denver has a VERY impressive skyline and a big downtown. What sucks about it, other than it raining all the time and never snowing, which is generally the same case in where you live I think. If its skyline is not better than Houston, it's at least equal. IMO, and not in order particularly, are New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, and Seattle, and maybe Philadelphia and Atlanta too. It doesn't get any bigger or better IMO than these cities.
For one thing, Memphis does not have the size to create a downtown like Nashville or Charlotte or Atlanta. Nashville and Charlotte both have at least 1.5 million people living there. Atlanta has a population of between 4 and a half to 5 million. Columbus' metro has just under 2 million people living in it and Indy has around the same. Memphis as a metropolitan area just clears 1 wholesale jerseys million people. Nashville's skyline and downtown while big still are not quite as large as medium sized downtowns like St. Louis and Cleveland. just over 1 million in the metro IMO is not enough for a boom or a downtown as large as the aforementioned cities. The surrounding terrain, which is flat, devoid of any bodies of water, and enshrouded in freeways and low density zoning, does nothing but detract from the otherwise nice office buildings. Also, can anyone say "SMOG"? Cough, cough! I was hard pressed to find many Houston images that didn't have a slight discoloration to them due to the high air pollution.
Pittsburgh, on the other hand, sits at the confluence of three rivers and is surrounded by lush rolling green mountains. Its downtown is compact and easily walkable (trust me, I've been cheap prom dresses online there). The downtown dies at 6 PM, as most in the Pittsburgh area live in the suburbs, but hopefully that will improve once PA's legislators start attacking our state's massive sprawl pandemic with growth boundaries and force people back into existing neighborhoods.
In my humble opinion, there's just no way to say that Houston's downtown is cheap nfl jerseys better than Pittsburgh's. It's fine if people find similar qualities, but Pittsburgh is just so much more lush, vibrant, and LIVEABLE looking, whereas Downtown Houston just looks so impersonal, corporate, autocentric, and sp r a w l e d out.
