東京にも火山灰が降り注ぐかもしれない。28日（2012年1月）の朝、日本列島が緊張した。午前7時43分ごろ、富士五湖直下を震源とするマグニチュード5・4の地震が発生。最大震度5弱が観測された。昨日も震度4の地震が起きており、富士山噴火の引き金ということはないのか。
富士宮では突然出水、こうもり異常繁殖
田中大貴リポーターは「これまで富士山周辺での低周波地震は年平均14回でしたが、2000年には148回も起きています。富士山に何らかの変化が起こっているのではと見ている専門家もいます」と報告する。富士宮市では原因不明の地下水出水があったり、富士山周辺の洞窟でのコウモリ異常発生している。
田中「富士山が最後に噴火したのは1707年で、それから300年以上が経っています」
メインキャスターの小倉智昭「300年以上経っても富士山は活火山でしょう。いつ噴火しても不思議ではないよね」
田中「すでに日本は地震活動期に入っています。東日本大震災によって活発となったプレートの動きが、富士山の火山活動に影響を及ぼしている可能性が高いとする専門家もいます」
地震学者の荒巻重雄・東京大学名誉教授は「噴火の可能性は十分ある。ただ、火山は噴火する1年ぐらい前から動き出すので、今すぐに噴火するとは考えにくい」と話す。
28日の地震について気象庁は「富士山の活動とは関係ない」としているが、小倉は「この見解が正しければ良いが、本当に噴火したら大変なことになる」と話す。
