Last week I went shopping with my friend and bought a Thomas backpack for my son.
It was a good deal at RMB45 (S$10) after bargaining with the lady who insisted RMB65 initially.
I was curious to know how much the bag will cost in Japan and searched for it in the net. Apparently, our Thomas bag looks different from the REAL one.
I bought Shun a faked Thomas! Good thing he doesn`t know or care and carries his bag happily everywhere.
Welcome to the country of counterfeit goods. DVDs, branded clothes, bags, electronics. You name it and they probably have it. Ok..I must admit buying many DVDs from the peddlers because they are simply too cheap to resist. And I secretly hope that they will continue to stay in business.......
We checked ourselves in Hyatt on the Bund last weekend. No occasion. Just wanted to go because of the promotion price.
Our room on the 28th floor looking over the Huangpu river and the Pearl TV Tower was beautiful. Shun entertained himself looking at the big ships and boats ferrying coal while we chill out with liquor.
The hotel pool was uncrowded with very attentive staff. Spa looks great too but too pricy.
Dinner and breakfast buffet offered a good spread of international food - Chinese, western, Japanese, Shanghai cuisines. Wanted to taste a little of everything and ended up eating too much.
Hotel location is a bit off but no concern for us since we just want to laze around and do nothing.
How I wish we can check in here every weekend.......
No more meddling with flour and kneading dough. Get yourself a bread machine if you are a bread lover and yearn for homemade loafs.
I bought my Panasonic bread maker from Japan with no regrets. Every weekend mornings, we will wake up to the aroma of fresh bread.
Its real easy. Just measure the ingrediants according to the recipe and put it into the bread machine. Set the timer and get your soft and yummy bread the next morning. Since there are no preservatives added, the bread should be consumed within a day or kept frozen until needed. Dummy proof.
Raisin Bread
For the past few weeks, we stayed at home most of the time because of Shun`s runny nose and the unpredictable weather. We read a lot and played trains together. I also took this opportunity to train him to pee in his new potty.
He made many accidents peeing in pants, on the floor, which gave him and me frustration during the first week of training. Everyday, I need to ask him whether he has any pee or not and bring him to his potty regardless of his answer. After 2 weeks, somehow someway he figured it out and can even tell us that he needs to go for a pee now. We still have accidents occasionally when he gets too engrossed in playing with his trains or watching a show but otherwise he is doing great.
His diapers are dry after naps and throughout the night. Maybe its a biological thing ?
I am not sure how he can keep himself dry at nights but I am sure that we are near our diaperless goal at home.
He will be still wearing his diapers when we are outside because its hard to find a clean toilet in time for him to pee. It seems confusing for Shun because he will point at his pants and tell us its not ok to pee inside his diapers.
Maybe will ask daddy to bring him to a hotel toilet tour next week for a warm up session.
