From when I was only a baby, my family always had dogs. I even have a baby picture of me, sleeping by the puppies that mama dog had in her den. Lining up right next to the puppies like I was one of her pup, sleeping peacefully! It was a cute picture, because the mama dog's facial expression just says it all, a bit "confused" whether I was one of her babies or not! Given St. Francis as one of my patron saints, I was never without some sorts of animals, while I was growing up.

When I moved out to go to college and started to live on my own, that was the first time I was without any animals for the first time. It didn't last long however, and I have gotten a pup, Siberian Husky. My favorite kind of the dogs, with its endless stamina, intelligence, adaptability, and of course, its strong tie to his pack members. I've never really cared for the breed of the dogs that was created for the convenience of humans. The Siberians are different, they weren't touched by humans to create their breed for over couple of thousands years. The natives of their land had "co-lived" with huskies. The relationship between the huskies and humans were very different from those breeds where they were created by humans for one purpose or another. Between huskies and the natives, it wasn't a typical master-worker (slave) relationship. It was the relationship that complimented each other to survive the harshest weather of all. Sometimes, humans had to rely the dogs' talents to seek out the danger, because those dogs could detect cracks in ice instinctively that the humans couldn't see. The huskies were the hunting "buddies", life saviors, and 4 legged family members. The equal relationship, I would say between man and the canines, and these dogs could handle that kind of responsibilities. They didn't "depend" on humans, and certainly they were not the blind sheep type of the dogs. As I said, at times the mankind had to rely on their intelligence to survive. The high adaptability that they carry have led to misconceptions about their loyalties and their intelligence. People wrongfully assumed that those dogs are "forgetful" or worse "stupid and disloyal" by their lower homing instincts. However, people tend to forget what kind environment that those dogs are came from. Coming from one of the harshest weather on Earth, these dogs had to have high adaptabilities and their own intelligence to survive, when they get lost. That is why, they are quick to join other packs (friendly in other words) and they had to have intelligence to make wherever they end up a "home". They couldn't just depend on one den, because that kind of philosophy was deadly in where they lived, rather they needed to make as comfortable as they can at wherever they end up, quickly to survive. Higher adaptability is the sign of intelligence of course. In raising a seeing eye dog, the last course that the dog had to learn is to "when to disobey his master, if the dog judges the order as unsafe thing to do at the time". It is said to be one of the hardest course for the dogs of those kinds, because most of them (retrievers and shepherds) are bred for the convenience of the mankind. They are bred to "obey the orders". They did not come from the environment that required their own judgment or improvise on their own. The huskies can do that naturally. They had to disobey at times, if the master's choice of the course was dangerous to take. Even to this day, I could still see those type of natures in all huskies at one degree or another.

Anyways, so I have been living with a boy husky. I gave the name from one of the God's in Egyptian mythologies as his first name. Yes, I said his "First name"!! Yep, he DOES have middle name just like us, to go with it! I will not share his first name here on the blog to protect his privacy (LOL), but I will share his middle name:

"Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. It's five year mission, to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before..."

The famous line from the hit TV series, Star Trek. Just by listening to the "Space, the final frontier", anyone in the states would have his favorite ship popping up in his mind, for sure. To me, it was the Voyager. The voyager, I love the meaning of the word, because we each are on our journey called life. We are voyaging through our lives and wherever we arrived, we are out to be explores, if we want to survive. We need to learn by exploring, by voyaging, always adapting, improving, moving forward with whatever life gives.

My dog, of course has the last name, as well. He carries my family name, because he is a family member with me, co-living. He works just like me, but I think he has better working condition than I do! (LOL) He works as a therapy dog at hospital, while I'm at work. He also has a license of a searching dog, but thankfully, those emergency hadn't occurred.

It's so funny to call my dog full name, because he would assumed he has done something wrong, just like human kids, when they are called full name. So, I won't call much of the middle name of his, but he knows it's his name, too.

A***** Voyager ++++++.
My dog!
