I got my piercing done later in my life, if I have to say. While other kids usually get the piercing done in their teenage years, I got mine just 3 years ago or so. I have always wanted one, but with my family being very strict, I was never able to get the permission slip to get piercing done at the mall, when I was young. I guess, I could have done it myself, but because I have many allergies with severe reactions, I just knew with my luck, I should wait for it to be done professionally.

Growing up in a Catholic family, it is a tradition to get confirmation usually at the time of the coming of age, if you will. However, I didn't like the idea of "locking myself down" that young. Well, Okay, I should admit that I skipped too much catechism courses, that it was no way that I could get confirmed with other kids at the time. Then, just like everybody else, I just got way too busy with other thing, and the confirmation was procrastinated. So, I got confirmation 3 years ago on the Easter Vigil, since that is the only time that the priest could confirm adults under the normal circumstances. (Usually, the confirmation is performed by the Bishop on other days.) I wanted to look nice on that day. I had birthday back in January in which one of my acquaintances offered professional piercing as my birthday gift. I bought a wine red garnet with platinum (White Gold) to be put in, since Garnet is my birth stone, which just happens to suit the color for the confirmation, red!

In the States, males have to be careful on which side of the ears you are piercing. Well, now a days, it's not as much as it has been in my high school time. But hey, I'm an old school! Since, I'm NOT technically out at anywhere, because doing that might risk my job. I'm not sure about my job and probably the "laws" are there to against the discrimination, but that doesn't mean anything in the real daily lives. The laws may be there, but how much are they practiced is a whole another story. I just heard so many horror stories of getting kicked out of the jobs, because of the one's preference on a very private matter, which has nothing to do the ability to do the job right, in Michigan. So, I just wanted to protect myself, quietly. Thus, I have a piercing done on my left ear lobe before my confirmation. Come to think of it now, perhaps it might be "hindering" in getting myself a mate! (LOL) Well, other than my own faulty personality issues. (Hehe)
