ジャンルはバラバラですが、振り返ってみると、mewやビョークやエンヤなど、私のコアな部分には北欧音楽が響いてくるみたいです。
なんか歌詞が綺麗なんです。
とはいっても、英語に特別精通しているわけではないので、主観なんですけど。
一曲気に入った歌に出会うと、結構和訳サイトを渡り歩いて、本当にその歌の伝えたいことを模索することが大好きです。
今回も色々な方の訳詞を拝見して、一番自分の納得するところに今落ち着いています
この歌で一番気になったのは、歌の主体が一人称なんだけど、一体どこの自制に立って歌っているかです。
タイトルは直訳だと「私を目覚めさせて」ですが、歌詞ではその後に「私がもっと歳を重ねて賢くなった頃に」と続くので、今はまだ青春時代をこのまま謳歌させて、起こさないでっていう逆の意味があります。
でも、最後に「I didn't know I was lost」と締めくくられるので、自分が迷子になってることに気がつかなかったという終わり方なんです。
それが過去形なので、自分が迷子になっていることに気がついた場所からの発信なんじゃないかなって。
ということは、それってもう、大人になって夢から醒めたときに書いた歌なんじゃないかなって。
でも、決して悲観的な意味でいってるんじゃなくて。
いつの時代も大人たちは懐古主義的に若者たちを指さすけれど、みんな同じように時間を重ねてきている。
不完全で未熟で青臭いことを抱擁するような、慈しむような、そんな眼差しを感じるんです。
だから曲の終盤には、今はただ青春を愉しもうぜっていうくらいに、EDMビートが追い討ちをかけているのかな？
私はそんなふうに解釈しまして。
この曲をかけながら街を颯爽と歩いて働いています。
