A Tifton man accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend on Friday morning was arrested Monday after police received reports he again was trying to force his way inside her residence.
The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office stopped a car driven by Henry Lee Freeman on Sunday morning on Old Norman Park Road because the car he was driving matched the one described to Moultrie police.
Precious Hillie, 37, of the 3100 block of Veterans Parkway, had reported on Friday morning that Freeman showed up at her residence at about 6 a.m. While there, she told police, he started an argument, punched her in the head, choked her and made a death threat toward her. The mother, Janice Alderman, told police that she heard Freeman make several threats to her daughter before she was able to calm him down and he left in a green car. A juvenile also witnessed the threats, she reported.
Hillie had visible injuries when officers arrived, police said.
Police were called to the same residence at about 5:45 a.m. on Monday. At that time Hillie reported that Freeman, with whom she has two children, tried to enter the apartment using a key. She put a chair under the door knob and she and her 15-year-old son used their bodies to hold the door shut as well.
After he could not get in, she told police, Freeman again left.
Freeman, 42, 1925 Woodlawn Ave., Tifton, was charged Monday with false imprisonment, simple assault, cruelty to children and terroristic threats and acts in connection with the Friday morning attack. He was charged with disorderly conduct in connection with the Monday morning incident.
