As you walk amongst the falling petals, you find a set of stairs up ahead and head towards it.
君たちが 舞い散る花びらの中を歩いていると、前方へ階段を見つけ、それに歩みを進める。
Suddenly, an overpowering voice echoes from above!
突然、圧倒するような声が 上から響いてくる！
【権威を振るう声(Authoritarian voice)】
Earthbound ones, beyond here are our lands. For what purpose would you proceed?
地表の者たち、ここから先は 我々の地だ。何の目的で お前たちは進む？
【ナレーション】
A winged demihuman appears before you, blocking your path.
翼を持つ亜人が 君たちの前に現れ、道を塞ぐ。

Father Sun and Mother Moon. Bless the earthbound people with the gift of new life…
父なる太陽、母なる月よ。地表の民を 新たな生命を以て 祝福したまえ…。
【ナレーション】
After saying this, the winged one looks at you as if in judgement.
そう言った後、翼を持つ者は 君たちを 審判するように見つめる。
【フラヴィオ】
Whoa…! We got a glimpse of him before, but he really does have wings…
うおっ…！ この前、彼を垣間見たけれど、本当に翼を持ってるんだな…。
【クロエ】
Hey. Is Mr. Wings looking at us?
ねえ。ウイングさん、私たちを見てる？
【アリアンナ】
Um, Sir Sigurd. Should we respond to him…?
あの、シグルズ様。彼に返事をするべきでしょうか…？
【ベルトラン】
He doesn’t seem hostile… I guess we should at least tell him that we come in peace too.
彼に敵意はないようだ…。少なくとも、彼に やり合うつもりはない（平和目的で来た）ことを伝えるべきじゃないか？

The winged one’s voice is firm, and he remains resolute in barring you from passing there.
翼を持つ者の声は堅く、彼は毅然としたまま、君たちが そこを通ることを妨げている。

H-Hey, wait a sec! You could at least listen to what we have to—

【ナレーション】
Before Flavio can finish his protest, you pick up on an air of palpable menace in the room.
フラヴィオが 抗議を言い終えることができる前に、君たちは 明瞭な脅威の空気を 部屋の中に感じ取る。
【クロエ】
That branch, that tree, that bush… There are winged people everywhere.
あの枝… あの木… あの茂み… 翼のある人たちが あらゆるところにいる。
【アリアンナ】
When were we surrounded…?
いつ囲まれてしまったのでしょう…？
【ナレーション】
As you are surrounded by the hostile winged creatures, you recall something…
君たちが 敵意ある翼を持つ生物たちに 囲まれる中、君は 何かを思い出す…。

もし君が 公爵の娘から学んだフレーズを口にすれば、彼らは 慈悲を示すかもしれない。

When you repeat the words that the Duke’s daughter taught to you, the winged one gazes at you in surprise.
君が 公爵の娘が教えた言葉を繰り返したとき、翼を持つ者は 驚愕の中で 君を見つめる。
He then spreads the wings on his back and rises into the air, as if opening the way to you!
それから 彼は背中のその翼を広げ、宙へ飛び立つ！ まるで、君たちに道を開くかのように！

The pact bearer has ascended! Shall those who descended to earth return to the heavens!
盟約の運び手が 昇ってきました！ 彼ら、大地へ降りし者たちは 天に帰るのでしょうか？
【ナレーション】
The question does not seem addressed to anyone, and the winged one disappears.
その質問は 誰にも宛てられていないようで、そして 翼を持つ者は消えていった。
You feel as if you are once again alone in the room…
君たちは 再び、部屋の中に取り残されたように 感じる…。

どうやら効いたみたいだな。
【アリアンナ】
Then… is the path leading to the castle in the heavens beyond here?
それじゃ… 天界にある城へと導く道は ここから先なのでしょうか？
［シグルズ］
Let’s find that castle.
ラピュタを見つけよう！
【アリアンナ】
Yes… Let’s us proceed onward!
はい…。先へ進みましょう！
【フラヴィオ】
We’re heading up into a new floor. Let’s be very careful as we go.
新しい階へ登ろうとしている。慎重に進もう。
【ナレーション】
You move to climb the stairs to the next floor with your guildmates.
君は ギルドメイトたちとともに、新しい階への 階段を登るべく 動き出す。
However, Chloe remains behind, wearing a disgruntled look on her face.
しかし、クロエが 後ろに残り、不満そうな表情を 顔に纏っている。
【クロエ】
They didn’t lend us their wings. I wanted to ride on them…
彼ら、私たちに翼を貸してくれなかった。乗りたかったのに…。
【ベルトラン】
Sheesh… You’re still hung up on that?
シーッ… お前まだ それにこだわってるのか?
【ナレーション】
Ignoring the black-robed girl’s petulant protests, you proceed onward and upward.
黒いローブの少女の 堪え性のない抗議を無視して、君たちは 前方へ、上方へと進む。

Now that you’ve entered a new floor, you see something mysterious and stop.
君たちが 新しい階へ足を踏み入れると、不思議なものを見つけて 立ち止まる。

すごい。浮いてる…！
【フラヴィオ】
It’s amazing, all right… But how does it work?
すごいな、たしかに…。だけど、どう作用するんだろ？
【ベルトラン】
A lot of things in the Labyrinth don’t make any sense, kid. Probably better we don’t think about it too hard.
迷宮にある 多くのものには 何の意味はないだろ、少年。おそらく、こいつに関しても 考えすぎないほうがいいんじゃないかな。
【フラヴィオ】
Point… Anyway, we should be thinking about how we’re going to proceed.
なるほど…。いずれにせよ、どう先に進むかは 考えなきゃな。
【アリアンナ】
Um… Might we board it?
あの… あの上に乗れませんかねぇ？
【フラヴィオ】
Hm? You mean that floating thing?
ん？ あの浮いてるやつのこと？
【アリアンナ】
Yes. It seems stable enough there, so I thought perhaps we could ride it.
はい。充分に安定しているようですから、もしかしたら あの上に乗ることができるのではないかと。
【クロエ】
All right. Let’s do it.
よっしゃ。それじゃあいってみよう。
【フラヴィオ】

そのまんま！？

うーん…。これについて おれは ちょっと不安だけど、この解では 道を切らしちゃったのも 事実なんだよな。

あー、彼が言いたいのは、無茶なことを 最初に考えることも無しに するべきじゃないってことだよ。
Though if there’s really no other way forward, we’ll have to try getting on this thing sooner or later.
しかし もし本当に 先に進む他の道がないなら、遅かれ早かれ 試さないといけなくなるだろ。

Looks like it takes us right to the other side, depending on which direction we get on it from.
どうやら これは おれたちを反対側へ 真っ直ぐ運んでくれるみたいだ。おれたちが どの方向から乗るかに 依存するみたい。
【ベルトラン】
We’ll get lost quick if we don’t keep in mind what direction we’re going and how to note that on the map, though.
どの方向に進むのか、そして地図に どのように記すか 心に留めなければ、あっという間に 迷子になっちまうな。

What she is attempting to show you is a depression in the tree where a sticky fluid has pooled.
彼女が 君に見せようとしているものは、粘り気のある液体が 溢れている 木のくぼみだ。

I think this is sap. Looks like it’s dripping from that cut there.
樹液じゃねえかな。どうやら、あの断面から 滴下しているみたいだ。
【ナレーション】

不自然なことじゃねえよ。オンタリオ(※)と呼ばれる、国際輸出品として 木から樹液を収穫する国がある。
(※)オンタリオ：作品内の地名ではなく、カナダに実在する州を指すと思われます。意外にも、カナダで メープルシロップを生産しているのは、主にオンタリオと ケベックのみなのだとか。
【クロエ】
They call it maple syrup. It can be spread on meat, used in ice cream… it’s the best kind of sap.
それらは メープルシロップと呼ばれる。肉に塗り広げられたり、アイスクリームに使ったり… 最高の樹液のひとつ。
【フラヴィオ】
Oh, I know that stuff. One of the senior Library investigators has it sent from her home country all the time.
おっ、おれそれ知ってるぞ。上級の調査隊員が、いつも彼女の故郷から 送ってくれるんだ。

As you cautiously check the area, Flavio gives a strangled cry.
君たちが 注意深く周囲を調べていると、フラヴィオが 首を絞められたような 叫び声をあげる。
You look at what his trembling finger points towards…
君たちは 彼の震える指先が 指し示す先のものを見る…。
【ベルトラン】
I guess it’s true that people who hate things are the first ones to spot them.
物事を嫌う人々が、最初に それを見抜くというのは 本当なんだろうな。
【ナレーション】
For what you find are the many-legged insects that Flavio despises more than anything!
君たちが 見つけたものは、足のたくさんある昆虫たち… フラヴィオが 何よりも嫌うものだ！
【クロエ】
You hate them, but you keep finding them. I feel kind of bad for you.
あなたは 彼らが嫌いだけど、彼らのことを 見つけ続けてしまう。なんだか気の毒ね。
【フラヴィオ】
No time to feel bad for me now! Let’s get rid of them! Right now! This instant!
おれを 気の毒にしてる場合じゃないから！ あいつらを 追い払うぞ！ 今すぐ！ 早急に！
【ナレーション】
As Flavio is almost in tears, for his sake you take your weapons in hand and face the insects!
フラヴィオが 半泣きになる中、彼のために、君たちは 武器を取り、昆虫たちに立ち向かう！

I-It’s… It’s over…

【ナレーション】
The ambush by the monsters Flavio hates so seems to have drained his energy, as he slumps to the ground.
フラヴィオが嫌う魔物たちによる襲撃は 彼から かなりの活力を奪ったようで、彼は 地面に崩れ落ちる。
It’s times like these when you most want some of that sweet sap to cure your fatigue, but alas, there is none left…
今こそ 疲れを癒すため、甘い樹液が 最も欲しいときだが、悲しいかな、そこには何も残っていない…。
However, when you look to the recession in the tree, you find that sap is slowly pooling once again.
しかし、君たちが 木の不振を見ると、樹液は ゆっくりと再び湧き出しているのを見つける。
At this late, there will be enough for you all to enjoy again by dawn tomorrow.
このゆっくりさなら、明日の夜明けに、君たちみんなが もう一度楽しむのに 充分な量になるだろう。
【アリアンナ】
Ah, so there will be more to enjoy later…? I’m quite looking forward to that already.

【フラヴィオ】

With how sweet the stuff is, it’s natural that humans wouldn’t be the only creatures who want it.
こいつが どんなに甘いかから、人間だけが それを欲しがる唯一の生物ではないのは 自然なことだ。

【ナレーション】
You note this place down on your map and return to your investigation, already looking forward to tasting the sap again.

君たちが 舞い散る花弁の雲の中を歩いていると、良い香りのする花を実らせた枝を見つける。
【フラヴィオ】

わお、良い匂いだな…。
【ナレーション】
You think that you could easily break off the branch if you reach out to it.
手を伸ばせば、簡単に その枝を折り取ることができそうだ。

はは…。欲深くなっちまった俺たちに 当然の報いというわけか。
【ナレーション】
There is no escape in sight… Take your weapons in hand and face them!
視界に逃げ場はない…。武器を取り、彼らに立ち向かえ！
