We will introduce the Japanese calligraphy lining(backing) Urauchi method.

Tools to prepare

  1. the work

  2. misting

  3. newspaper

  4. heat iron

  5. calligraphy pad

  6. Dedicated lining paper

  7. ruler (length: more than 30cm)

procedure

  1. Place a writing pad on a heat-resistant desk.

  2. Place the newspaper and artwork on top of it.

  3. Spray to the work evenly. Please be careful not to mist too much as the work will bleed.

  4. Place the special lining paper on top of it. Place the work so that it is in contact with the glued surface.

  5. Glue it with a heat iron, stretching it from the center outward.

  6. Once it dries well, turn it over. At this time, the calligraphy pad and special backing paper will adhere, so be careful when removing them to avoid creating creases in your work.

  7. Cut off the excess backing paper using a ruler and a utility knife.

  8. The piece still has a curly habit. Finish by applying a heat iron to the back side.

How was that? It's easy, right? All you have to do is attach it to the hanging scroll and you've created a cool piece of interior art. Please give it a try.
