Egyption と聞こえたが実は Egyptian だった
I read somewhere that corn was commonly stored in the Pylamids of Egypt.
Pylamid と聞こえたが実は Pylamids だった
M: Well, it's not an Egyptioan word.
And to say that corns were was found in the Pylamids is not quite accurate.
corns were と聞こえたが実は corn was だった
acurate と聞こえたが実は accurate だった
Let me explain.
You see, in Old English,
the word corn referred to the prevalent grain cultivated in any given area.
refered と聞こえたが実は referred だった
prevalent[adjective]widespread in a particular area or at a particular timeOxford Dictionary
References to corn in Egypt or the Middle Erast actually refer to the grain we now call barry barley.
References corn と聞こえたが実は References to corn だった
middle erast と聞こえたが実は Middle East だった
barry と聞こえたが実は barley だった
barley[mass noun]a hardy cereal with coarse bristles extending from the ears, cultivated especially for use in brewing and stockfeed.Oxford Dictionary
In England, "corn" was actually wheat.
weat と聞こえたが実は wheat だった
wheat[mass noun]a cereal which is the most important kind grown in temperate countries, the grain of which is ground to make flour for bread, pasta, pastry, etc..Oxford Dictionary
And in Scotland, the corn was of the area was what we now know as oats.
the corn was the area as what と聞こえたが実は the corn of the area was what だった
oat[noun]an Old World cereal plant with a loose, branched cluster of florets, cultivated in cool climates and widely used for animal feed.Oxford Dictionary
So, the term corn had a variable meaning.
depending on a the grain grown in the local area.
on a grain と聞こえたが実は on the grain だった
In the Americas, the grain mays maize was referred to as corn.
mays と聞こえたが実は maize だった
maize[mass noun]a Central American cereal plant which yields large grains (corn or sweetcorn) set in rows on a cob . The many varieties include some used for stockfeed and corn oil.Oxford Dictionary
As the American variety has become more popular around the world,
it is has kept that name.
it is kept と聞こえたが実は it has kept だった
And the use of the word corn to refer to other grains has faded.
And use of と聞こえたが実は And the use of だった
冠詞や前置詞、複数形の聞き取りで細かい間違いがあります。
平均して10回ぐらい聞き取ります。
意味はだいだいつかめているのでしょうが、
音だけを正確に聞き取ることは、本当に難しいですね。
完璧な耳、発音知識、文法知識と完璧な語彙が必要ですね。
Round-3 (Reading aloud)
この後、聞きながら、音読の練習をします。
できるだけ同じ発音ができるように、
大きな声で、口を大きく開き、舌を前後に動かし、
顔を横に広げたりたるんだ口元を上に引き上げて
10回以上文を読みます。
今回のテキストで発音が難しいものです。

この後、テキストのシャドーイング(よく聞いてその後続けて言う)を数回します。
声は小さめです。
(ほとんど、覚えているし音読もずいぶんできるので簡単です。)

を聞きます。
Transcripts 付です。
だから速読の練習(黙って読むのですが、数単語ずつまとめて読む)もできます。
単語帳は
外国のお母さん乙を使うと自動でできます。余裕があればシャドーイングしようかなと思います。
まだまだ、英語が聞こえるまで先は長いです、地味に続けます。
