子貢曰、君子亦有惡乎。子曰、有惡。惡称人之惡者。惡居下流而訕上者。惡勇而無禮者。惡果敢而窒者。曰、賜也、亦有惡乎。惡徼以爲知者。惡不孫以爲勇者。惡訐以爲直者。
現代語訳
子貢が尋ねた。「君子も人を憎むということがありますか」
老師が答えられた。「憎むことはあります。他人の悪事を言い触らす者を憎む。部下が上司をそしる者を憎む。勇だけで、礼の無い者を憎む。思いきりよく行動するが、慎みの無い者を憎む」
それから、老師が言われた。「賜君、憎む人がいるか」
子貢が答えた。「他人の意見を盗み、自分の意見とする者を憎みます。傲慢不遜を勇気だと思っている者を憎みます。人の秘密をあばいて正直だと思っている者を憎みます」
英訳
Zi Gong asked, " Is there a man of virtue who hates people?"
The Master was answered, " Yes. Hates those who say the wrongdoing of others. Hates a subordinate who slander to his boss. Hate a person who has no courtesy only by courage. Make a good action but hate to be not discreet person."
Then the Master was said , " CI. who is hates a person?"
Zi Gong asked, " Steals the opinions of others and hates those who make their own opinions. Hate the person who thinks arrogance hubris to be courage. Hate the one who thinks that it is honest to disclose the secret of the person."
