子曰、性相近也。習相遠也。子曰、唯上知與下愚、不移。

子曰(しいわ)く、性(せい)相近(あいちか)し。習(なら)い相遠(あいとう)し。子曰(しいわ)く、
唯上知(ただじょうち)と下愚(かぐ)とは、移(うつ)らず。
現代語訳
老師の教え。「人間は生れた時は差がない。しかし躾による差がでる」
老師の教え。「最上位の賢者と、最下位の愚者の差は永久に変らない」
英訳
The Master's teachings, " When man is born, there is no difference. But there's to come out a difference according to teaching manners."
