子曰、有德者、必有言。有言者、不必有德。仁者必有勇。勇者不必有仁。
書き下し文
子曰(しいわ)く、徳有(とくあ)る者(もの)は、必(かなら)ず言有(げんあ)り。
言有(げんあ)る者(もの)は、必(かなら)ずしも徳有(とくあ)らず。仁者(じんしゃ)は
必(かなら)ず勇有(ゆうあ)り。勇者(ゆうしゃ)必(かなら)ずしも仁有(じんあ)らず。
現代語訳
老師の教え。「徳のある人は必ず良い事を言う。しかし良い事を言う人は必ずしも徳のある人ではない。仁者には必ず勇気がある。しかし勇者は必ずしも仁者ではない。」
英訳
The Maester's teachings, "A virtue person always says good things. But those who say good things are not necessarily a virtue person. There is always courage in a perfect virtue person. However, the courage person is not necessarily a perfect virtue person."
