入公門、鞠躬如也、如不容。立不中門。行不履閾。過位、色勃如也、足躩如也。
其言似不足者。攝齊升堂、鞠躬如也、屏氣似不息者。出降一等、逞顔色、怡怡如也。
没階趨進。翼如也。復其位、踧踖如也。

三 公門(こうもん)に入(い)るとき、鞠躬如(きくきゆうじょ)として、容(い)れられざるが
如(ごと)くす。立(た)つに門(もん)に中(ちゅう)せず。行(ゆ)くに閾(いき)を履(ふ)まず。
位(くらい)を過(す)ぐるとき、色(いろ)勃如(ぼつじょ)たり、足(あし)躩如(かくじょ)たり。
其(そ)の言(げん)は足(た)らざる者(もの)に似(に)たり。斉(し)を摂(かか)げて堂(どう)に升(のぼ)
るとき、鞠躬如(きくきゆうじょ)として、気(き)を屏(ひそ)めて息(いき)せざる者(もの)に似(に)たり。出(い)でて一等(いっとう)を降(くだ)るとき、顔色(がんしょく)を逞(の)べて、怡怡如(いいじょ)たり。階(きざはし)を没(ぼっ)して趨(こばし)り進(すすむ)とき、翼如(よくじょ)たり。其(そ)の位(くらい)を復(ふく)するとき、踧踖如(しゅくせきじょ)

現代語訳
孔先生が君主の表門に入門する時、慎んで身体を曲げて門に入れないかのようだった。
立ち止まった時、脇に寄って、敷居を踏まなかった。君主が佇んでいる場所を通る時は、顔色を正し、足は進めなかった。そして言葉を慎んだ。衣の裾を持って政庁の堂に昇る時、慎んで身体を曲げ、息をひそめ、息をしない感じだった。退出して階段を一段降りた時、厳しい顔色が変わり、喜ばしい感じであった。階段を降りてから小走りして進む時の姿は端正であった。君主が佇んでいる場所を再び通る時は、うやうやしい様子であった。
