三十 子曰(しいわ)く、与(とも)に共(とも)に学(まな)ぶ可(べ)きも、未(いま)だ与(とも)に道(みち)に
適（ゆ)く可(べ)からず。与(とも)に道(みち)に適(ゆ)く可(べ)きも、未(いま)だ与(とも)に立(た)つ
可(べ)からず。与(とも)に立(た)つ可(べ)きも、未(いま)だ与(とも)に権(はか)る可(べ)からず、と。
唐棣(とうてい)の華(はな)、偏(へん)として其(そ)れ反(はん)せり。豈爾(あになんじ)を思(おも)
わざらんや。室是(しつこ)れ遠(とお)し、とあり。子曰(しいわ)く、未(いま)だ之(これ)を思(おも)
わざるか。何(なん)の遠(とお)きことか之(こ)れ有(あ)らん、と。
現代語訳
孔先生の教え。その人と共に学ぶことができたとしても、その人と人の道を行くことができるわけ
ではない。その人と人の道を行くことができたとしても、その人と信念を同じくして世に出ることが
できるわけではない。その人と同じ信念で世に出たとしても、その人と同じ判断を下せるわけで
はない。詩句に「唐棣の花は開いたが、花弁が互いに背を向けている。あなたを思わないで
あろうか。お互いの家が遠いために会えないのだ」とある。孔先生は、「まだ恋をしていない
と言うのか。どうして遠くて会えないことなどあろうか」と、語った。
英訳
Confucius teachings. Even if you can learn with them, can you go the way of the person?
Even if we were able to go the way of the person, it was possible to come out to the world with the same belief. It is not possible. Even if you go out in the world with the same conviction as that person, you make the same judgment as that person.
