というわけで、
友人で今回のチャリティーソングを一緒にプレイした
Daniel からメッセージが届いたので、
原文のまま掲載しますね。

It was Autumn 2011, about six months after the 3/11 earthquake, and I was touring the Tohoku area with the US Embassy to share the healing sounds of Hawaiian music. One of the towns we visited was Ishinomaki. After the end of my performance, we gave to children a limited number of teddy bears donated by the Oahu Visitors Bureau. An elderly woman timidly approached us and asked if we had any more stuffed bears remaining. Reluctantly, we had held on to one. She went on to explain that she wanted to take a bear to her grandchild. A grandchild whom she lost to the tsunami. Her wish was to place this bear at the child's gravesite, a memento of happier times. We were in tears as we gifted the last teddy bear, as though it were held back for this special moment.
"Miagete Goran" was a song our dear friend and hula dancer, Tsuji Eiko, of Fukushima prefecture suggested I learn to play during our visit to the Tohoku. I performed it on ukulele and did my best to sing the lyrics as Eiko choreographed to it a beautiful hula. We were so touched by the significance of the song and returned home to record it on 'ukulele. I asked long-time friend, Suga Shikao, if he would do the honor of singing it. Its simple and heartfelt message is presented here with Shikao-san's sincere vocals in honor of the ongoing support for those who continue to rebuild their lives.

２０１１年の秋に、アメリカ大使館と一緒に、
東北地方をチャリティライブで回っていました。
パフォーマンスの後に、子供たちにテディ・ベアを配りました。
石巻で、おばあさんがきて、
テディベアを一つ欲しいと言ってきたのです。
おばあさんは、津波で最愛の孫を失ってしまい、
その子のお墓にテディベアーをお供えしたいという話だった。
我々は涙し、その最後のひとつを渡した。
福島に住む友人でありフラダンサーのツジエイコさんが、
「見上げてごらん夜の星を」という曲を、
そんな東北滞在中に弾けるように
マスターしてみてはどうかというサゼスチョンを受け、
私は演奏し歌詞を精いっぱい歌い、
彼女がそれにフラを振りつけて踊りました。
そして、われわれはこの歌の意義を知ったのです。
アメリカに戻って、すぐウクレレでレコーディングをし、
旧友スガシカオさんに歌ってみないかときいてみた。
スガシカオのボーカルで、
それはシンプルで心からのメッセージが伝わる曲になった。
復興のための継続的支援に敬意を表します。
ささやかな幸せ絵お祈ってる・・・。
