わたしたち が むすこと むすこのおくさんを はじめて たずねた とき は はるでした
It was spring when we first visited our son and his wife.
*むすことむすこのおくさん → sometime we say むすこふうふ(married couple)
*Visit(たずねる/ おとずれる)
たずねる means to go to a place to find out what's going on, or to go to meet someone for a certain purpose
おとずれる is a word that can only be used for places.
さくらは さいて いました
Sakura was blooming
つちうらには かわ ぞいの どてに さくらが あります
There are cherry blossoms on the bank along the river in Tsuchiura.
かわの なまえは さくらがわ
The name of the river is Sakuragawa
なぜなら たくさん 桜の木 が ある からです
Because there are many cherry blossom trees.
どうろは かわぞい に あります
The road is along the river
*みち=way(road) どうろ=road とうり=street ほどう=path
おくさんと むすこと わたしは みち(どうろ or. ほどう)を あるきました
My wife, son, and I walked down the road.
さくらのき は ひだりと みぎに あります
The cherry trees are on the left and right
おどろいた ことは ほとんど ひとが いなかった ことでした
What surprised me was that there were almost no people
むすこが わたしたちを かわ(かせんじき) へ つれていきました
My son took us to the riverbed.
*About river
河川敷(かせんじき)
Refers to the site specified by the River Act. Refers to the part of a river where flood control work has been carried out, from the embankment to where water flows.
河原(かわら)
It refers to a flat area near a river with a lot of sand and stones, and no running water.
運河(うんが)
A large-scale waterway created for purposes such as ship traffic and irrigation.
水路(すいろ)
This is an artificially created waterway.It will be constructed for the purpose of transporting water necessary for daily life.
小川(おがわ)
It is small and the water flow is slow. Streams are generally wide enough to be walked across.
川(かわ)
A general term for rivers. We call most rivers かわ
*There are many words to describe rivers!!!
かわ に さくらのき が ひだりと みぎに あります
There are Sakura on the left and right of the river.
さくらの木は かわの うえに のびて いました
Sakura was growing above the river.
わたしたちは はしへ いきました
We went to the bridge
みぎと ひだりに き が みえました
We saw trees on the right and left
*みました is action.
*みえました is status.
I looked over there, and I see Fujisan there.
わたしは むこうを みました。 すると そこには ふじさんが みえました。
えだは ちかくの みずへ たれさがって います
The branches are dropping down nearby water.
おくさんと わたしは 京都と東京 の 桜の ゆうめいな ばしょ へ いったこと が あります
My wife and I have been to famous cherry blossom viewing spots in Kyoto and Tokyo.
つちうらは さくら が ゆうめいでは ありません
Tsuchiura is not famous for cherry blossoms.
でも つちうらの さくら は おなじくらい うつくしいです
But the cherry blossoms in Tsuchiura are just as beautiful.
わたしは にほんに たくさん さくらが うつくしい ばしょ が あると おもいます
I think there are many places in Japan where cherry blossoms are beautiful.
ただ、京都と東京 だけ よい せんでん が あります
However, only Kyoto and Tokyo have good advertising.
