声をかけられ
手渡されたものは
I was given a small envelope
at Kukai’s mausoleum
this morning.
その場で身につけさせて
いただきました
I thanked Kukai and
put it on my wrist
right away.
「もしかしたら受かるかな。」
Is this a sign？
5月30日に英検を受け
今日の午後に合否発表が
ありました
I took Eiken (English
Proficiency Test) on 5/30,
and they announced
the result this afternoon.
30年以上海外で暮らし
仕事も学校もほぼ英語…
とはいえ
日本のテスト方式は
独特ですので
戸惑い、緊張もしました
Although I had lived abroad
over 30 years and used English
at school and work,
a testing system in Japan is
so distinctive that I was
a bit nervous.
昨年はコロナ禍で
お家時間が増え、
英検を受ける人も増えましたし
ソーシャルディスタンスなど
会場も規制されましたので
受験資格の抽選にも
外れてばかりいました
Due to the coronavirus
pandemic, there were more
people staying home and
studying English last year,
and because of the social
distancing rule, they limited
the number of applicants,
so I didn’t even have a
chance to take the test.
試験会場も
コロナを考慮しますと
大阪や京都までは
行きたくなく
Also, I didn’t want to travel to
Osaka or Kyoto to take
the test, however,
しかしながら
和歌山会場は
キャンセルが多く
会場も辺鄙で
思いあぐねていた時に
見つけましたのが
「英検S-CBT」
the test facility in Wakayama
was often cancelled, and
it’s inconvenient location.
Then, I found out about
Eiken S-CBT.
従来型の英検は
一次試験、二次試験と
2日間の試験ですが
英検S-CBTは
スピーキング、リスニング、
リーディング、ライティングを
1日で測ることができる試験です
You have to take two separate
tests, one per day, for 2 days
in traditional Eiken, but S-CBT
offers speaking, listening,
reading and writing tests in
1 day .
なにより
会場が和歌山駅近くで
便利でしたので
助かりました
The best part was that
the facility was conveniently
located near Wakayama
station.
雑居ビルの中とは
少々驚きでしたが..
I was a bit surprised that
it’s in a multi-tenant
building.
さて肝心の結果発表です…
The moment of truth…
ひたすら…
ほっとしております
