ニヤニヤしながら

聞いてきました

How do you eat

without teeth?

「前の方で

噛み砕いていますよ。」

I can use the front teeth.

「リスみたいに。」’

Like a squirrel.

「だから

ほっぺたの筋肉が

リスみたいに

発達してきました。」

It makes my cheek muscle

develop, and I look like

a squirrel now.

横で聞いていた

シカさんも大笑い。

A friend listening to

our conversation burst

out laughing.

というわけで...

So,

歯が抜けたまま

念願の”it”に

行って来ました

I finally went to “it”

even though I just

had a tooth extraction.

場所は

千手院橋の交差点北側

喫茶店きくと三宝の間です

“it” is located at Senjuinbashi

between Kiku and Sanbo.

店内には

2人掛けテーブルが3つ

4人掛けテーブルが2つ

There are 3 tables for 2 people,

and 2 tables for 4 people

カウンターでオーダーし

呼ばれたら取りにいくという

セルフサービスです

The order is taken at the counter,

and they’ll call when the food is

ready. It’s self-service.

本日のメニューは

パスタと..

They had 2 menus:

pasta and curry.

カリーは

スパイスだけの味付け

だそうです

They used only spices

as seasoning.

色々なお野菜を使い

とてもヘルシーで

美味でございました

There were a variety of

vegetables on a plate,

and it was healthy and

tasty.

白米は苦手ですが

モチモチした十穀米は

好きです

I don’t care about rice,

but I do like multi-grain

rice.

食のコンセプトが

was carrot cake, but

デザートまで

ヘルシーでなくてもよいかと、

次なる目的地へ向かいました

dessert, so we headed to

the next place.

西南院は

高野山の西側

大門に最も近いお寺です

Sainanin is located

at the west of Koyasan

near Daimon.

ここにカフェがあると聞き、

以前来ました時は

カフェの場所が分からず

周りに人もいませんでしたので

あきらめたことがあります

Once I came here before, but

I couldn’t find the cafe, and

no one was around, so

I gave up.

この日も

誰もいません

Again, nobody was around.

納経所に人影があり

尋ねますと

We finally found someone

in the office, and she said

カフェはお寺の中でした

the cafe was inside the temple.

靴を脱いで中に

入ります

We took off our shoes

at the entrance.

山内に117のお寺が

ありますが

中に入る機会は

あまりありませんので

新鮮な気分を味わえました

Although there are

117 temples in Koyasan,

I don’t have much opportunities

to see the inside of the temples,

so it was joyful experience.

私は甘い飲み物を好まないので

カフェではいつもコーヒー

それもブラックなのですが

この日は抹茶ラテをオーダー

しました

I’d normally prefer black coffee,

however, I decided to try

Green Tea Latte this time.

この回廊に座り

We sat at this corridor,

お庭を眺めながら

いただきます

then, had Latte while

enjoying the beautiful

garden.

お煎餅がついています

Drinks come with their

original rice crackers.

メニューに

宇治のお茶を使用していると

ありましたが

As the menu says

they use the green tea from

Uji,

濃厚なお茶の味と香り

そして上品な甘さに

リピート間違いなしです

Its flavor and aroma are

so rich but not too sweet.

I’ll definitely come back

and have this again.

友達のさくらラテも

絶品だったようです

My friend had Sakura Latte,

which she loved it, too.
