奥の院には、
色とりどりの歴史を
飾った戦国武将たちの
墓碑があります。
In Oku-no-in, there are
so many graves of feudal
lords who left their marks
on history.
戦国という過酷な時代を
生き抜いた彼らは
今、静かに奥の院に
眠っています。
After living through
the age of civil wars,
they were resting peacefully
in Oku-no-in.
生前は、
命をかけて
戦った相手でも
Even they fought
each other at the risk
of their lives,
奥の院では
皆がひとつの場所で
they were all resting
together in Oku-no-in,
and
敵味方関係なく、
it does not matter
if they were allies
or enemies.
まさに、
This is meant
六大無碍常瑜伽。
The Six Great Elements
are interfused and are
in a state of eternal harmony.
奥の院の一の橋から
中の橋に向かう途中、
右側に、武田信玄と
勝頼の墓石があります。
On your way from
Ichi-no-hashi to
Naka-no-hashi,
you’ll see the grave of
Shingen Takeda and
his son, Katsuyori.
奥の院にある戦国武将の
墓碑は簡素なものが多いの
ですが、
Many graves of the federal
lords are very simple to
begin with, but
武田信玄、勝頼親子の墓碑は
小さく、よりひっそりと
佇みながらも、威厳が漂います。
These graves of the father and
son are smaller and stand
quietly but still show the dignity.
武田信玄の墓碑の向かい側に、
生前のライバル上杉謙信の霊廟が
あります。
Across from the grave of
Shingen, the mausoleum of
Kenshin Uesugi, who was
Shingen’s rival, stands.
信玄の簡素な墓碑に
比べると、謙信の
御廟はとても立派で、
In compared with
the simple grave of Shingen,
Kenshin’s mausoleum
looks splendid, and
坂を上がった高台の
特大の木々に囲まれた
霊気の中で威風堂々と
構えています。
because it’s built on
higher ground surrounded
by huge trees, it looks
so majestic.
参道をはさみ、
向かい合う
かつてのライバルが、
The old rivals are facing
each other at the path of
Okura-no-in between
them.
奥の院でまでも
川中島の戦いの
続きをしているとは
思いませんが、
I don’t think that
they are still continuing
their famous battles of
Kawanakajima, but
ふたりの心の内を
覗いてみたいもので
ございます。
I wish I could read
their minds.
