I want to talk about my mindscape. I don't know what other people's mindscape are, or even if it exists.
a mindscape is something like a place you create in your mind, a place you imagine yourself to be in. to think. to meditate. well, that's what it is to me anyway.
my mindscape's been really useful to me. every time I get really stressed out or feel really out of it, I go to my mindscape.
it first came to me after I saw a spray painting exhibit by a street busker, the kind they do on the spot next to the train stations. I remember that night, I went out with an old friend, both of us just recently broke up and were really down and out. then we stopped for a bit and watched this guy do a spray painting of a really beautiful picture. something meaningful to me happened at the last part before he completed the picture but I won't say it here
my mindscape is based off this picture.
imagine it's dark. maybe an autumn night a few days after summer. I'm at a lake. a lake that stretches really far and wide, but I can still see the shore on the other side. most of the time there isn't a single star up in the sky. I don't know how to describe the greenery around the lake, it isn't really that clear since its the night but the phrase Norwegian wood always pop up in my mind. both literal and maybe a reference to Haruki Murakami's novel. There's a constant breeze and the whole place just gives off the feel of complete calmness. it soothes my soul. the lake doesn't have a single ripple and it's really like a mirror, reflecting the image of the moon hanging in the sky, 5 times the size f the moon hanging outside your window right now. it's always a full moon. I never really liked crescents, I guess.
that's pretty much it. I always imagine myself to be on the shore, staring out into the open. there's complete silence. maybe sound doesn't exist in my mindscape. I like it that way. mindscape changes over time, and I have no idea what it'll change into so I'm writing this down as a note. to remember how it looks now.
there isn't an official wiki or dictionary page for the word, since it probably isn't a real word, but this is what I could find:
1. A mental or psychological scene or area of the imagination: "mindscapes, in which memories from an American childhood mingle with those from the fantasy world of the films" (Grace Glueck).
