The bullish outlook on Bitcoin has been growing throughout 2023, with Standard Chartered initially forecasting BTC to reach a value of $100,000 by the end of 2024, before issuing a recent revision that suggested a 20% upside to the call, pushing forecasts to $120,000.

Standard Chartered’s justification for such an impressive price rally factored in the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank at the beginning of 2023, with the banking services giant anticipating that the event could accelerate an investor push towards a “decentralized, trustless and scarce digital asset,” according to analyst Geoff Kendrick.

Following the suggestion that Bitcoin could reach values of $120,000, Standard Chartered noted that this could be driven by price rises causing Bitcoin miners to hoard the supply of the asset as a long-term hold option.
