誰も援助してくれず、銭の魔性に翻弄された、中庸さもない男の悲劇「アテネのテモン」第１幕
２場からのもの。

テデスコは、この曲に愛着があるようで、Sopとギターに編曲している。楽譜は未出版でも
CD収録されている。

crown：王冠のある刻印のある 5 shillings銀貨。
sixpence: 旧通貨単位では12 penceで 1 shillings。sixpence＝crownの1/10に当たる。
６巻の３曲目は、ムーア人の将軍オセローが策略にはまり嫉妬の末に妻デズデモーナを殺す
悲劇「オテロー」第２幕３場から。
嵐のお陰で敵のトルコ軍が全敗した後にて、策略家イアーゴーが副官を酔わせ大失態を引き
起こすために唄を歌う場面。
