Just Another Week..?
Hey everyone, BDon here to do the honors.
Sorry for being late on the blog, but this past week has been a very busy week. Busy with what, you ask? Well, let us start from today and work our way backward.
Just 3 hours ago, I took one of the most overhyped midterms of my life for my accounting class. Overhyped means that you put way too much emphasis into it. Although to treat it like a joke is definitely a mistake, this test was no where as hard as it was perceived to be. Everything that we were tested on was stuff that I can almost remember. I say almost because the real difficulty of the test lies in the fact that there is so much stuff to study. Because there are literally dozens of topics to study for this one midterm, there's almost no way you could remember everything. But I tried to. Along with Yoshi, today and yesterday I studied for about 7 hours. By myself, I studied for another 10 hours. 17 hours total for just one test, but probably 60-70 topics. Gosh... so much work! But now it's over, and I actually feel pretty good about it.
Aside from study, this weekend I watched Iron Man for the first time. Pretty good rendition of the old comic, but I'm not an avid reader of Iron Man so don't quote me on that! By the way, there is this Mexican Chinese restaurant in La Mesa on Baltimore called "P.G. King." It's pretty good! What I mean by Mexican Chinese is that its a Mexican owned and operated restaurant that makes Chinese food.
The other thing I did this weekend is watch my 49ers lose horribly to the Atlanta Falcons. Goodness, that made me so sad! That's the second football loss I had to endure this week. The first loss was on Tuesday, when my IM flag football team lost to a frat team in the last seconds of the game.
Aside from all of this, my week was a normal week. Class, work, and a JSA officers meeting.
One thing I want to mention real quick, Last Sunday my cousin got into an accident which left him in critical condition. His head slammed hard against the pavement when he was slung from the back of a car and his skull was fractured. This all happened not because of another car hitting him, but because he was riding outside of the car holding onto the trunk hatch and the driver took a sharp turn.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming anyone here and I'm not saying it was a stupid accident. At the same time, I'm not trying make you guys read this and say "I'm so sorry about your cousin," although your thoughts and wishes are much appreciated. After hearing that this happened, I thought hard about my life. It's crazy how the silliest things can take everything away from you, or at least come very close. My cousin and I were not too close, but I knew him and his family well enough to consider them family (they're actually my parents' best friends and their kids). I know that they're worrying like hell about my cousin's future. He may have suffered brain damage that can hamper his movement for the rest of his life. He and I are (were) both very active people. He played basketball all the time; I played football. I can only imagine what he would do in the future if his ability to play basketball is stolen from him because of this.
I guess I just want to say... Appreciate your life and what you got. Appreciate your family and your friends, cuz they really will worry about you if something bad happens. You never know what your choices (or anyone else's choices) can do to affect your future.
Stay up and keep loving,
BDon
