Washington County head coach Joel Ingram welcomed the stiff test he was sure his team would receive from Eagle’s Landing Christian on Friday.
The test turned out to be a short one as the game was canceled for lightning in the second quarter. The stoppage came following a two-hour delay for lighting.

The Golden Hawks led 6-0 following a 49-yard touchdown run by Melvin Hill in the first quarter. Washington County played much of the game in its own territory, stopping the Crusaders inside their own 10-yard line on the opening drive.
“That was shaping up every bit like last year’s game,” Ingram said. “We made a stop. They made a stop. We made a stop.”
