Script Speakを始めたい理由（わけ）

From Chia：　Script Speakは、映画脚本を英語で作成し、演じるという、新しい英語学習の形態を提案するグループです。

このコンセプトを思いついたのは、私のパートナーであるIlse（イルサ）です。私とイルサはとある語学学校の講師として仕事をしていました。というわけで、二人とも英語講師としての経験は充分。また、人とのふれあいを人生の楽しみとして謳歌しております。私とイルサは、共に、「書くこと」「創作すること」「映画」「演じること」に情熱を感じ、二人で良く映画談義に花を咲かせます。

イルサの提案に私が乗った理由。それは、自分の経験が大きく関係しています。

私は、2005年の夏にバンクーバーの映画学校に留学しました。その目的としては、もちろん、映画脚本創作技術の向上と共に、英語で自分の思うことを表現できるようになりたい、という強い欲求からでした。2006年の夏にこの学校を卒業するまでに、この目的は果たされ、今では英語を不自由なく使いこなせるようになったのです。

どんなにテスト向けに勉強しても、語学学校に通って様々な表現を学んでも、やはりどういった場面でその言葉を使い、どう相槌を打つか、というのを学ぶには限界があります。それなら、思い切って英語表現の宝庫である映画の世界で自己表現をすることが最良の近道だと信じてやみません。

もう、英語を「勉強」や「学習」と捉えるのではなく、こういった楽しい状況下で、「体にしみこませていく」ことにトライしていませんか？英語学習に疲れてしまった日本人の皆さん。これは新たな扉を開くチャンスです。

さて、ここで、私のパートナーであるIlseからのメッセージをご紹介します。

"I felt we needed a course that doesn't attempt to resuscitate old methods and bringing students no closer to their goal ・which for most I think started as a passionate desire to be a part of all the fascinating aspects that a global tool such as English offer. We want to take our students to a place where ideas are as fresh as they get ・a place where an emotion is born and conveyed through actual dialogue, chasing after people who will understand it in pursuit of a tale ・a story that will talk of naked human truth.

I wanted students to feel their voices confidently, grasp phrases and lines spoken by actors before them, to play with their own creative thoughts in script form, learning as they shape their words.

Let English be alive in your mind as all your other 'senses of self', and give yourself the chance to express what you believe to be true about the world."
