We went to Dorogawa, nice and cool!
Yesterday our daughter and grand-daughter drove us to a place called Dorogawa in mountain area. Nowadays, the place is more known for hot spring resort. My mother’s parents, who are my grandparents were born in the place.
My grandfather came to Osaka to work but he was drafted to Japan-Russian war.Before he was drafted, he visited his hometown.
He went to a small temple there to pray to Buddha for his safety. After praying, he picked up a small stone there and kept it in his pocket as a talisman. In fact, a miracle happened when he was shot in a battle-field, his heart was not wounded by the bullet because of the stone kept in the chest pocket. But it penetrated his dairy in the pocket.
We feel we exist now because of the stone.
Knowing this episode, yesterday we visited the temple and my daughter picked up a small stone there to keep as a talisman.
昨日の日曜日は娘と孫が私達を奈良県の洞川に車で連れて行ってくれました。
ここは母の両親つまり私の祖父母の出身地でした。今は洞川温泉と知られる観光地です。私の祖父は大阪に出て来たのですが当時あった日露戦争に徴兵される前に故郷の小さなお堂にお参りしてそこの小石を拾って御守りに胸ポケットに入れていた。奇跡的に弾丸がその小石にあたり心臓への致命傷を避けらる結果となりました。その代わりにポケットに入れていた手帳を貫いていた。私たちが今存在できるのはその小石のおかげだと感じます。
昨日は娘とそのお堂にお参りして小石を拾って娘は御守りとして持っておくと言っています。

Recently I tried to search for my graduation certificate but I can’t find it yet. I wonder where I put it.
But I happened to find my professor’s recommendation for job hunting and English teacher licenses.
卒業証書が問題になっていますが、どうなんでしょう？私もこの間から心あたりの場所を探してみたが見当たりません。
半世紀以上前のことで卒業したのは確かですが卒業証書はどこに置いたのか定かでありません。まあ私の場合は選挙に係ることもないのでどうでもいいことです。でも成績表とか就活時の担当教官の推薦状と教諭免状が出てきました。
推薦状には特技としてバスケットボールと英会話、趣味は犬の飼育と街歩きとなっていました。そうこの頃から徘徊癖があったんや。 この担当教官の先生はもうお亡くなりになっていますが本当に熱心に指導して頂きました。卒業して15年も経ったある日、仕事で近くまで行ったので芦屋の自宅まで夜突然寄せて頂き夕食をご馳走になりました。先生は「君のような学生が訪ねて来るかと住所を変えずにいる」と言われた。先生から学んだこと、一生の糧にして頑張っています。ありがとうございました。
