Dogs. It's a bit of a tired discourse - parading your favorite animal, partisanly asserting its superiority and ultimate cuteness - and I doubt anyone is truly as impassioned or zealous about pets as they pretend; it's just humorous melodrama as a throwaway talking point. Even so, I have fallen in the trap of having a preference - and although I do not know how genuine it is, my inclination is towards felines. I suppose that dogs aren't the embodiment of all evil on Earth, but from a young age, I was instilled with a bias against them, and so I would avoid contact with them and subconsciously bar myself from appreciating anything about them. If it weren't for that, maybe I would have been a dog fanatic, and so sometimes, I hesitate to slander them with all the typical stereotypes about their cloying loyalty or troublesomeness - but other times, I cave in. I wish I could see dogs in a completely pure light, free from any sort of previously held notions, and then form a fair judgement about them, but it may be impossible.
