Every year it is the same routine yet fresher and newer:
Walk to our parish church (Church of England), attend the morning prayer assembly, then prepare for the service bringing out Chalice, purificator, paten, priest's host, cover, lavabo tower, jug of water, flagon of wine, flagon of water, ciborium, etc, etc. Then wear the Alb and support our Vicar wearing her Chasuble. Serve at the altar, ring the bells, sing hymns, carry Gospel (big red book) for Gospel Reading, Pray for world peace and all reconciliations, pray for everyone who are suffering in body, mind and spirit.
After the service, tidy out the altar, sacristy, wash all the tea or coffee stain off the church mugs and cups, then visit the next door vicarage and enjoy Christmas brunch cooked by our beloved Vicar, Mother Christine. <3
Enjoy the conversation, then a little bit of Christmas telly watching, then walk back home in peace and with thankful heart.
