The protagonist in this novel is not a professional spy but a publisher who happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

It is interesting to read how people survived in Russia some years after Perestroika - freedom is coming but still life is tough and secret information gathering and exchange is still going on behind the pretentious peaceful co-existence of East and West (in Europe).
