バレンタインの昨日、関東地方は午前中大荒れの天気でした
ネパールにいた頃のバレンタインの日を思い出すと、
若者同士でのお菓子のやりとりは目撃した覚えがありますが、
大人たちの間でそんなにメジャーでは無いようでした。
ちなみにネパールでは、キャンディもキャラメルも全て「チョコレート」と呼ばれています
総称して包み紙に包まれた甘いものたちは全て「チョコレート」なのです。
さて、このブログまたウェブショップをご覧頂いている皆様、
そしてお買い上げ頂きました皆様に心よりお礼を申し上げます。

ネパール地震について前回までの記事
私たちSano Tino Life Designが、皆様からの売上金をサポートに繋げさせて頂いている
「ヌワコット郡サムンドラ・デヴィ村の6区」という地域では、
約500世帯の住居が居住不可能になってしまった為、
今も簡易的に作ったテントやトタン屋根の住まいで生活をしているという状態です。
ネパール大震災から10か月が経とうとしている今も余震が続いているとの事ですが、
再び家を建てる為に皆さん立ち上がって歩みを進めています。
さて家を建てる為に必要な木
この地域には自分たちで所有・管理している大きな森があり、
逆にそれを持たない一部地域の人たちも隣組から木を買う・借りるなどして
必要な際に補われて来ました。
震災前からそれは変わらないのですが、問題はその木を木材にするという作業です。
元来全て手作業で行われていたこの作業、想像するだけでも大変ですが、
地震後の現在、約500世帯の住居を建て直して行かなくてはならない今の状況を考えると、
どれだけ大変か、また非現実的かという事が容易に理解できます。
そこでSano Tino Life Designでは、
皆様の売上金を、この地域に住む皆さんが自分たちの力で家を建てて、
村を再建して行く為に必要な、この木材切断機の
購入・搬送・設置・活用の為に必要な費用に充てさせて頂いております。
これまでの生活の中で自然と身に付けて来たサバイバル能力、
すなわち工夫をして生きる力に満ち溢れているサムンドラ・デヴィ村の皆さん。
テントや簡易的な住まいも自分たちの手で生きる為に建てたものです。
「魚を与えるのではなく、魚の釣り方を教えろ
」という言葉がありますが、
この地震後の通常とは異なるこの地域の現状に、
手作業で木材を切り続けるというこの途方もない作業の替りに、
その過程を何とか現実的なレベルまで簡易化するという事に、
差し伸べる手が必要な時だと思います。
この村においてはただ「魚」をあげるという事ではなく、
また安易にその言葉の意味が通用する状況でもないように思うのです。
再び自分の「家」
で眠れる日が早く来るようにと皆さん逞しく歩んでいらっしゃいます。

この数か月、現地ではこの木材切断機の購入・搬送・設置に向けての道のりが、
私たちのお兄さんであるナラヤンさんを中心に進められていました。
しかし政治的理由が大きく絡むインド国境から広がった問題、
またそこから来るガソリン不足など様々な問題が起こっていました

It was Valentine’s Day yesterday, but unfortunately windy storm hit Kanto area
and the weather was terrible…
If I recall the Valentine’s Day when I had lived in Nepal,
some situations that young people exchange the chocolates or flowers
each other comes in my mind, but it seemed it was not so famous event among adults.
It was interesting that all kinds of candies, caramels,
and whatever sweets and wrapped by colorful paper are called “Chocolate “!
Getting know the details more about 2015 earthquake in Nepal and us.
We’re very glad to know that many people have visited our web shop
especially we really appreciated those who did shopping with us.
The area where we have decided as our partner to support the victims
of the earthquake is located in
Samundradevi VDC (Village Development Committee), Ward #6.
Around 500 buildings were destroyed or partly damaged in this area,
and they still keep living in the tent or temporary shelters;” Cottage” they call.
It has been almost 10 months after the earthquake,
but they said they still feel the many aftershocks until now,
although even in this tough situation, they have started walking again.
Regarding the trees which need to build their houses again,
people in this area fortunately still got their own forest
or even they may borrow some trees with the neighbors,
but turning trees into roofs or windows and door or pillar for
the house is big hurdles and it took years by manual work.
Here we came to conclusion that we support all the process to buy a wood cutting machine for rebuilding more than 500 collapsed houses.
Without wood cutting by machine would not be possible
as manual works need a lot of time and effort.
Villagers rebuild their house by themselves
like they have built their “cottage” by themselves.
Villagers got great surviving skills by birth but
one could hardly think of efficient way to re build the houses
with cutting woods by manually.
We know and understand there are the words
“Don’t give them fish, teach them how to catch it.”,
although, it does not work straightly for them in this critical situation.
(They already know “how to catch it”.)
At the end we really hope our support from your shopping
will helps to bring back villagers to their home
where they can sleep with truly peace of their minds again.
They have started walking again….!
Through these serval months, all process to start using
wood cutting machine to buid their houses again
have been prepared by villagers under the leadership of our brother Narayan,
although all process was not going smoothly with many issues ;
borders blockade between India and Nepal with political problem,
and it also brought another problems; shortage of gasoline…
