South Carolina quintet Pure Pleasure's three-song debut EP washes over us like a nostalgically lysergic daydream of downward-tuned Hum-core.
Opening standout "Counting Sheep," in particular, expertly juxtaposes a sweet-and-semi-whispered vocal melody with grand-form guitar damage, as if the band were inviting us to take a nap with them on an oddly inviting mushroom cloud of over-driven melodies.
