秋にキノコ狩りに行きました。目指すは松茸。
アメリカ産松茸は、しっかりした硬さがあり、香りが豊富。
メイン州(アメリカ)ではそれほど認知度は無く、汗臭い靴下×シナモンの臭いがすると言う人もいるようです。
ここでは１ポンド(約454ｇ)6ドル～12ドルで手に入ります。
日本では秋口の高級国産品は1ポンド900ドルになることもあるとか。ちなみに、日本でアメリカ産を買うと中国産の50%の値段だそうです。
さて、日本では特別な存在である松茸。
メインの森で見つけました。
味も日本で食べるのと変わらず、香り高く、同じく日本出身である夫と共に大変美味しくいただきました。
Went on wild food foraging for mushrooms in the past Autumn. Looking especially for Matsutake.
American Matsutake has its firm texture and strong flavor comparing to the one in Japan. Its flavor is highly admired in Japan, however, some describe it as "sweat socks and cinnamon" here in US.
We can find Matsutake for $6-$12 per lb in Maine. While the price can be as expensive as $900 per lb in Japan if it is the highest grade in the beginning of the season.
So, Matsutake is a special treat in Japan.
That is what we were looking for in Maine woods, and found some.
The flavor and the taste were as good as the one my husband (also from Japan) and I remember from Japan.
