Yesterday, I talked with one of the officer of a certain study-abroad institute. I got some pieces of useful advice.

First, I asked what I should do now. She answered what I should do are to keep a good grade and try a lot of extra curricular activities. I had better go with a calm and relaxed manner. I couldn't say my depression and ask how I should deal with it, but it was reasonable advice.

Secondly, I asked whether I should put the name value before the curriculam. I wondered even if I went to a small liberal arts college in US, some people who don't know the college would dispise me. She explained how the problem is treated in US. According to her, what's important is not the name of college but a grade. People in US think it is better to get A in a small college than get a C in a famous, big college. The structure of this way of thinking come from the admission system of university in US. In US, some people get accepted a big university through their contact. They have plenty of money to donate or be connected by alumni network: it means that if their mother or father is an alumnae of the university, they can get accepted easily. Other people can enter an university with a great grade of sports or music. Like this, there are lots of people getting accepted for peculiar reasons. However, in proportion to this thought, US people came to respect a grade rather than the name of university. This means that if I got C in a famous university like Harvard, they think that I might have got accepted using lots of money or connection or such things and my efforts were not so much. On the other hand, if I got A in a small college, they think that I might be a hard-working person. I haven't heard such a story in US. In Japan, it is usual to judge a person from the university he or she is in. If the person got accepted by a famous university like University of Tokyo, it is great even the person haven't studied after the entrance ceremony. Japanese human resource department also doesn't care about a grade he or she got. What's more, people tend to respect not only the name of university or a grade but also characteristic of the person. I guess many people think it is good thing. I agree with the opinion that argues personality is important, but I concern about the fact that they don't shift the idea to discern a grade in university. I was moved when I heard that a student with a good grade is awarded in commencement or invited a dinner with a president of the university. I want to study competing with a motivated students from all over the world in such a culture and an environment.

I hope that I can get earbuds today.
