Not all Japanese people is Buddhist but the first Bon festival following the Buddhist memorial service to commemorate 49 days since someone's death is called Hatsubon, and customs are observed more strictly than usual. My hometown town's fireworks display is also one of the memorial and farewell service for the spirits of the deceased. I lost my dog, Sue last year, so this year is the first O-bon for her. I think that Sue was watching the fireworks. root84さん(@roothachiyon)がシェアした投稿 - 2017 Aug 13 3:20pm PDT
