「的を射ている、正鵠（せいこく）を射る」
ここで mark は「的」。
「意見や考えなどが"ぴたり"と合うこと」を right on the mark という。
他にもこんな表現がある。
right on target (the targetとならない）
right on the money（「お金」に関係がなくてもこの表現を使う）
「的をはずす」off the mark
「かなりはずす」 wide off the mark という。
