4回目に授業を休むことになるらしいフィルムスクールの生徒からこんなメールが。
”I had a beehive delivered to my apartment this morning and the guy was supposed to
help me transfer the bees out of the box, which he did not. As it was, I already had enough
to do today that going to class meant not stopping at home. But this is actually a serious
issue. There are a lot of bees in there, and it's fairly over-priced if they escape. I was
expecting help so I'm ill-equipped, and I have to be multi-tasking while I'm even trying
to come up with ways to attack it. Which is actually good 'cause I'm a little scared of
the only good ways I can come up with. Again, I'm sorry. To be frank, I shouldn't
be the one doing this. I'll see you Tuesday.”
「今日家に蜂の巣を届けてもらうことになってたんですが、取り決めと違って配達のひとが箱から蜂を移すのを手伝ってくれなかったんです。僕は今日いっぱいやることがあって、授業に行くなら家に帰ってる暇はない。が、これは重大な問題なのです。箱の中には蜂が本当にたくさんはいってて、脱走したとしたらかなり高くつきます。手伝いをしてもらうことになってたので僕も用意ができてなくて、他の事をマルチタスキングしながらこの問題にとりくまないといけない。まあ僕が考えられる一番いい方法はちょっとこわいので別にそれはいいんですが。本当にごめんなさい。まったく僕がこんなことをしなくてはいけない筈ではなかった。では、来週の火曜日に。」
