From American University

はじめまして、今回アメリカン大学に一年間交換留学で派遣された、なほです。
立命館大学では４年前に新しくできた、国際関係学部のGlobal Studiesで勉強しています。

Wikipediaによると、アメリカの某雑誌で、アメリカン大学が全米１，６００大学の中で７５位にランクしているみたいです。それから、アメリカン大学の一番人気の学部はSIS (school of international service)で、国内外から人気の学部で他の学部に比べると留学生が多いみたいです。
ちなみに、SISは全米８位の学校で、首都であるWashington D.Cに位置していることもあり全米随一の研究拠点だそうです。

８月１５日にアメリカン大学に向け、伊丹空港から成田空港、シカゴ空港で乗り換えをして、Washington's Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA)に着きました。Reagan空港からはMetroを３０～４０分ほど乗り継ぎアメリカン大学に着きました。ちなみに、Reagan National Airport以外にも他に２つ空港があります　→　[Washington Dellus International Airport (IAD)とBaltimore-Washington International (BWI)]

アメリカン大学は留学生はみんな、寮に入らないという決まりがあります。
金額は多いに異なりますが、Single, Double, & Triple Roomから自分の好きなもをを選べます。
ちなみに、私は今Double Roomに住んでいますが、ルームメイトはまだ到着していないので今は一人で部屋を使っています。


アメリカン大学に着いたその日は、大学にcheck-inして、IDカードを発行してもらったり、日用品の買い出しをしました。
時差ぼけと長いフライト疲れていたので、その日はぐっすりと寝れました。

翌日からはInternational Students Orientation Weekがはじまり、今もオリエンテーションの真っ只中です。

新しい環境で慣れないことはたくさんありますが、なんとか今までやってこれています。
ちなみに今日は洗濯をしました。大学によって異なるそうですが、アメリカン大学ではwashとdryに各1.75ドルかかります。今日、乾燥機にホコリがたまっていたのを見て唖然としました。

初投稿なので、まずは簡単な自己紹介から…
私は立命館の経営学部2回のまえと申します！このブログを立ち上げてくれた二人とは、中高の同級生で縁があって、今回参加にいたりました^ ^
また、私自身、現在留学している方々のブログなどを参考にさせてもらっていたので、このブログ開設にぜひ携わりたい思っていました(^ ^)

私は明日から、アメリカのOklahoma City Universityに交換留学生として約9カ月留学します！この大学は、ミスアメリカを輩出したり、ブロードウェイで大人気のミュージカルWickedのグリンダ役の方！……名前がど忘れ……ほら！Gleeにも出てる……の母校でもあるのです✨ 声楽や踊りなど、アートな部分で秀でている学校です。加えて、Oklahoma Cityは、アメリカ国内でも有数のBusiness Friendly Cityです。新しいベンチャーなど、様々な青年実業家が会社を立ち上げる場所なのです。そんなOklahoma Cityは、経営学を学びたい私にとっては打ってつけの場所です(^_－)－☆

なんせ、明日出発だというのに用意は7割しか終了しておらず、今私はサークルに向かう電車の中なのですから（笑）

From Nanjing, China

I am writing this blog from Nanjing, Chana.

I am here to study about Chinese culture, history, language, politics, and relationship with Japan as a "honers program (http://www.ritsumei.ac.jp/acd/ac/kyomu/cer/kokusaiHP/kokusai/kokusai.1/)" student. Today I would like to write about this trip in China.

Actually, as a preparation for studying abroad, this trip is beneficial than I thought.

Firstly, I became open to differences between Japan and another country. After coming to China, I went through a lot of inconveniences. Shop clerks try to deceive me. Water and some foods are not safe. Toilet are not clean. Internet is not available. At first, I was surprised but as I accept these difference as features of this country, gradually I became able to adapt to the environment and to handle the problems. Finally I realised that it is no surprise for one country to have different manners from which of another country. We should accept them. I guess this stance is necessary for all of those who go abroad.
Secondly, we had a chance to communicate with many students here. Of course, we have many Chinese students around us but also, there were many international students from various countries. We enjoyed exchanging opinion each other. For me, it was really fun having a discussion about sustainable development with students from China, Germany, India, UK, South Africa, and Canada before I learn this topic in Vancouver. I am so excited to have such discussions with foreign students in Canada.
Thirdly, it was so precious for me to have a opportunity to think about my identity as a Japanese. Nanjing, the City we stay, is the one of the most sensitive place to think about relationship between Chana and Japan. Japanese military committed mascara in this place. According to a historical record, it was said that the victim as amounted to 300,000. In the study trip schedule, we visited the historical museum. When I see the display items in the museum, it seems to me that the issue and the murderousness of Japanese are exaggerated. I felt like "Oh, I know this is what Chinese government do". I even don't know wether I should believe the exhibited records or not. However, what I felt strongly at the same time was that I have to put myself in Chinese people's shoes to be critical on this kind of sensitive issue. At least, I felt Japanese historical education is as less believable as which of Chana. In real, many historical facts which I had not learned about in schools were exhibited there. Whenever we attend a discussion as a Japanese, I think we have to state our opinions based not only on Japanese way of reasoning but on another (or the opposite) point of view. I guess this is the manner for all global citizens.

Sorry for being long but I strongly believe visiting other countries before you go studying abroad would bring you new insight.

Especially, in this Honers program, we learn about anything to compete in and contribute to the global society. I really recommend you to check the home page. (I guess most of this blog's readers are interested in work in other countries.)
Above all, you can enjoy a three weeks trip to China for free, if only you attend this program!!

Boomer! Sooner! れいか

こんにちは！はじめまして！
国際関係学部2回生のれいかです。
私はといいますと、アメリカのUniversity of Oklahoma (OU) に留学しています。

Oklahomaってどこやねんってかんじですよね。
はい、ここです↓



田舎やで～、なんもないで～、と言われてきましたが、
ほんまに何もないです。アメリカで超田舎と言えば、Oklahomaらしいです笑

でもその分、人は優しい！
Oklahomaに来る前、LAとSFに滞在していましたが...
そこに比べてほんとに優しい人ばっかりです。


そして大学はといいますと...
でーん。こちら、図書館です。





さすが、アメリカの大学。広いです。
歩いて移動できず、一応バスがあるのですが、安い自転車探し中です。


それと！
なんといってもOUといえばFootball！
サッカーではありません、American Footballです！

キャンパス内にスタジアムがあるのですが、
約8万人収容できます。それで、8万人以上やってくるんです。満員になるんです。

Soonersというチームで、とっても強いです。
アメフト好きな人だったら絶対知ってます。

ちなみに開幕戦は今月の30日！テンションあがってしょうがないです。
今、必死にチケット探してます笑 アメフト好きだと、めっちゃ幸せな環境ですよ。


少しだけ私のことを...
実は、海外に来るのは初めてです。
19年間、日本から1歩も出たことのない状態でOklahomaにやってきました。
パスポートもTOEFLを受けるために1回生の春に作ったくらいです。

初海外！初一人暮らし！ですが、
なんとかなるやろう精神でなんとかやってます！


と、こんなかんじで今回は終えたいと思います。

Takara: University of British Colombia (GCP)

Hello, This is Takara Onozawa.

I am a sophomore business student in Ritsumeikan.

I will leave Japan on August 30th to study about International business, CSR and CSV(Creating Shared Value) in Vancouver, Canada.
I am going to UBC as a GCP(Global Citizenship Program) student and stay there for 2years.
I am so exited (and nervous a little bit) to go to UBC!!

Now, I am preparing for a new life in UBC.
Especially, I am trying to blush up my English skills as well as possible before I come to Vancouver; reading English books and thesis, listening to lectures in English, talking to foreigners in English, and writing this daily in English.

Tomorrow, I would like to focus on what I am thinking and what I am doing now regarding to studying abroad.
