Great kids movie and it is a shame that movies like this aren't made anymore. Great journey with a lot of fun and with some adult messages.

That one quote rings most perfect to this movie. It doesn't matter how old it is, or how old you are watching this movie, it's timeless and ageless. This really brings back the magic of childhood with its sense of wonder. The Goonies themselves are all memorable in one way shape or form. Sean Astin definitely deserved an award for this role as the de facto leader of the group, but you've got to hand it to Jeff Cohen (Chunk) for his acting ability. In fact he steals half the show with his antics (long live the Truffle Shuffle. I love the traps the group encounters as they're all creative, my personal favorite is the bone piano; you certainly don't see that everyday. But the ending is just great when you find out hope is restored when Rosalita finds the gems to save the homes that Mikey stashed in his bag. I end this review with this quote: Hey you guys.

As a kid I've never bothered to watch "The Goonies" which according to most definitions of the term means I haven't had a childhood. Today I've finally made up for lost time, but unfortunately I was a tad disappointed. The story about a bunch of kids trying to trace a pirate's treasure has all the potential in the world, but all this old trilobite got out of this movie was a migraine. There's so much high-pitched screaming going on in this movie I've turned on my alarm clock just to relax a little. And generally I have nothing against stereotypes, but come on: 80% of the fat kid's lines is about food, the Asian kid invents gadgets, it's just sorta painful here. Why these characters get so much attention while the at the time still cool Corey Feldman barely gets to do anything is beyond me. The movie's obviously well-made and it definitely has some bright spots (Sloth. but you just miss the heart-warming friendship between boys you saw in things like "Stand By Me" or "The Lost Boys. Not my cup of tea.
